Orchard Park has a new prescription drug drop-off box at the Police Department in the Municipal Center, 4295 S. Buffalo St.
The container is available 24 hours a day to accept unwanted and outdated prescription pharmaceutical medications. The location is under constant video surveillance and will be checked daily by a member of the Police Department to accept unwanted and outdated drugs.
Items that will be accepted include prescription medication, patches and ointments that are not leaking and physicians' samples of prescriptions. Items that will not be accepted include needles, thermometers, over the counter medication, vitamins, inhalers or any aerosol container, hydrogen peroxide, ointments, lotions or liquids and any medication from a business or clinic.
Those having a large quantity of prescription medication to dispose of should contact the Police Department by calling 662-6444.
