Former Leon fire chief pleads guilty to sex crime involving underaged girl

LITTLE VALLEY -- Laurence E. Ellis, 44, the former chief  of the Leon Fire Department, pleaded guilty this week before Cattaraugus County Judge Ronald D. Ploetz to third-degree criminal sexual act, admitting sexual contact with a girl under the age of 17, according to the county district attorney's office.

Ellis faces sentencing March 27 for the incident, which occurred between the winter of 2014 and the spring of 2015 in Leon, according to prosecutors.

Also Monday before Judge Ploetz:

-- Trevor D. Grupa, 20, of Forestville, pleaded guilty to third-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child  for a sexual incident with a girl less than 17 in the Town of Dayton last June 18. He also faces sentencing March 27.
