Falls man hides in pharmacy to steal drugs

Federal prosecutors say Darren Lockett had a unique way of stealing drugs -- he hid in the basement of a Niagara Falls pharmacy.

Lockett, 37, of Niagara Falls, recently pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo to burglary of a pharmacy.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Patricia Astorga said the defendant waited in MacLeod's Pharmacy on Feb. 9 of last year until it closed and, with the help of  a flashlight, stole more than 1,000 tablets of suboxone, diazepam and clozapine.

Lockett's conviction is the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Niagara Falls Police.
