The Town of Cheektowaga is looking for residents to participate in the budget deliberation process for 2018.
The advisory committee concept was launched in 2016 to gather input in evaluating and recommending expense reductions for the town budget. The 2016 committee ultimately recommended a 5 percent reduction in part-time payroll and a 3 percent reduction in non-personnel expenses. The cuts translated into a savings of $779,104, said Supervisor Diane Benczkowski.
Led by budget director Stanley J. Kaznowski, the 2016 committee consisted of 15 members and met between March and June. All of its members were asked to remain for the current budget process, but officials are looking for other residents interested in participating as well. Interested residents should submit a letter to Benczkowski at Town Hall, 3301 Broadway, Cheektowaga 14227 or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Meetings will be held monthly started in February with dates and times to be announced.
