The Allen Street Hardware Café, 245 Allen St., is taking on a new glow on Jan. 28 and 29.
It will become a cabaret.
"We are sponsoring what I think is an event unique to Buffalo -- namely a real, classical cabaret show," proprietor Mark Goldman said. "I have been working with Tiffany DuMouchelle, an incredible soprano on the faculty of the UB music department. While her specialty is contemporary classical, she is an extraordinary cabaret singer with a terrific cabaret repertoire."
The event is called "Cabaret, Kabarett, Cabernet!" DuMouchelle will be singing songs of Edith Piaf and Ute Lemper, including numbers by Kurt Weill associated with the Ueberbrettl Kabarett of Berlin.
She will be performing with the Roland Martin, a distinguished pianist, organist and harpsichordist who is also on the UB faculty. Goldman has planned an authentic cabaret feel with cabaret tables, a candelabra and other trappings.
The event takes place at 8 p.m. Jan. 28; and 5 p.m. Jan. 29. Tickets are $10 at the door.
