Allentown Association to revive the Blizzard Ball

The Blizzard of '77 just marked its 40th anniversary.

And now, after a 20-year absence, the Blizzard Ball is back.

The Allentown Association is reviving the Blizzard Ball for the first time since 1997.

This time, the Blizzard Ball is dubbed "Resilience."

The event is planned for Feb. 25, from 8 p.m. to midnight at Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum at North Street and Porter Avenue. Food, beverages, two bands and dancing are included in $55 advance tickets; $65 at the door. Tickets are available online at The ball is a fundraiser for the association and is geared to appeal to people all over the region and of all ages.

"It's not to dwell on the snow, but to celebrate the resilience of Western New Yorkers," Association Vice President Jonathan White said. "In the face of adversity, we come together."

White first went to the ball in 1982 as a freshman in college when it was a black-tie event.

"We want to celebrate all that's great about Western New York and celebrate ourselves," White said.
