Sabres Prospect Report: Fasching back for Amerks

Add a goal to the story of the return of Hudson Fasching.

The forward, who missed 26 games with a groin injury, scored his first goal since returning to the Rochester Americans' lineup in a 3-1 loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in Connecticut on Sunday.

Fasching, who returned to the Amerks on Jan. 11, has two goals and one assist in eight AHL games this season.

The Amerks, meanwhile, went 1-2 on their three-games-in-three-days road trip. It started Friday with a heartbreaker in Providence against the Bruins. Justin Bailey scored twice in the third period as Rochester rallied to tie the game, but the Bruins scored with four seconds left in regulation for a 4-3 win. It was the ninth multi-point game of the season for Bailey.

Bailey scored again on Saturday, helping the Amerks to a 3-1 win over the Hartford Wolf Pack, but the team closed up the road trip with a 3-1 loss in Bridgeport. For goaltender Linus Ullmark, it was just his second loss in his last seven games.

The Amerks host the Toronto Marlies on Wednesday and the Albany Devils on Friday.


Vojtech Budik (Prince Albert Raiders, defenseman) – Registered two assists over the weekend to give him 14 in 40 games this season.

Giorgio Estephan (Lethbridge Hurricanes, forward) – On an eight-game point streak which includes five multi-point games. He recorded three assists in a 3-2 overtime win against the Calgary Hitmen on Jan. 21. On the season has 24 goals (six on the power play) and 34 assists.

Brendan Guhle (Prince George Cougars, defenseman) – Scored twice on Jan. 21 in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Kamloops Blazers. In 36 WHL games this season he has 11 goals and 10 assists.

Brandon Hagel (Red Deer Rebels, left wing) – Had himself a six-point night on Jan. 21 with two goals and four assists in a 6-2 win over the Victoria Royals. It was his third game back after missing five games with a lower body injury.

Devante Stephens (Kelowna Rockets, defenseman) – Has eight goals and 11 points in 43 games. He has a plus-10 rating and 40 penalty minutes.


Austin Osmanski (Mississauga Steelheads, defenseman) – The East Aurora native has six points (one goal, five assists) in 37 games.

Cliff Pu (London Knights, forward) – Ranks fourth in the OHL with 62 points (27 goals, 35 assists) in 41 games. Has seven power-play goals, 14 power-play points and two short-handed goals.


Vasily Glotov (Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, forward) – Had a three-point weekend with a goal and an assist in a 7-2 win over the Moncton Wildcats on Jan. 21, and a goal against the Wildcats in a 7-1 win on Jan. 22. Has 10 goals and 28 assists this season.


William Borgen (St. Cloud State, defenseman) – Helped set up the game-tying goal for the Huskies on Jan. 20 in a 3-2 overtime win against Denver. Has one goal and nine assists in 23 games.

Christopher Brown (Boston College, center) – Registered three assists in a 6-1 win over Massachusetts on Jan. 20. Has six goals and 15 assists in 26 games.

Ivan Chukarov (UMass, defenseman) – The sophomore picked up his fifth assist in a 6-1 loss to Boston College on Jan. 20. He has six points in 24 games.

Casey Fitzgerald (Boston College, defenseman) – Has 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 23 games.

Anthony Florentino (Providence, defenseman) – Held off the scoresheet in his last three games, the senior has five goals and seven assists in 19 games.

Connor Hurley (Notre Dame, center) – Did not play in Notre Dame’s weekend series against New Hampshire. Has been held without a point in his last four games. In 21 games for the Fighting Irish this season he has 16 points (four goals, 12 assists).

Sean Malone (Harvard, center) – The senior from West Seneca had an assist in 3-0 win over Brown on Jan. 20 and another helper in a 1-1 tie against Yale Jan. 21. He has 10 goals and 12 assists with his 22 points a career-best.

Philip Nyberg (Connecticut, defenseman) – Has three assists in six games for the Huskies.

Cal Petersen (Notre Dame, goalie) – The junior recorded his fifth shutout of the season, making 31 saves in a 3-0 over New Hampshire Jan. 21. In 25 games he has a 14-8-3 record, 1.97 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage.

Judd Peterson (St. Cloud State, center) – The junior has been held without a point in his last eight games. For the season he has nine goals and four assists.

Max Willman (Brown, forward) – Had a goal and assist in a 4-3 overtime win against Dartmouth on Jan. 21. Has eight goals and nine assists in 19 games.


Rasmus Asplund (SHL, forward) – Has three goals and 12 assists in 28 games for Farjestad BK.

Jonas Johansson (Allsvenskan, goalie) – Has a 2.02 goals against average and a .918 save percentage in 24 games for Almtuna IS.

Victor Olofsson (SHL, forward) – Has eight goals and 10 assists in 36 games for Frolunda HC.

Gustav Possler (SHL, forward) – Scored his first goal for Djurgardens IF after missing the first half of the season with a broken ankle. In four games he has two points.
