GRIERSON, Willard E. "Bill"

GRIERSON - Willard E. "Bill" Passed away January 15, 2017 at the age of 97. He served as a Merchant Marine during WW II ferrying supplies between Portland, ME and Boston, MA. During the 1940's, Bill worked at many jobs including a woolen mill in Rochester, NH. During the 1950's, he worked for Oregon Saw Chain Co. of Portland, OR and was one of the first salesmen hired by Oregon in the new emerging market of harvesting trees by gas powered chain saws. In 1962, Bill was hired by Sabre Saw Chain of Burlington, Ontario to open a distribution center in Dalton, MA. In 1966, he moved the center to Lewiston, NY. In 1970, Bill opened an assembly plant in Niagara Falls, NY for Sabre. In 1975, he founded Norman Prince Associates in Lewiston, NY. Norman Prince was a leader in the chain saw accessory field for many years. He was an avid Buffalo Sabre and Bills fan. He is predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Finley) Grierson of Lewiston, NY and son James Grierson of Punta Gorda, FL. He is survived by his life long partner, Patricia Zelazny of Depew, NY; son Jon Grierson of Harpers Ferry, WV; daughter Karen Perakis of Pleasanton, CA; grandchildren Corinne DiPietro and Carolynn Grierson both of Dalton, MA and Colin Hasting of Tonawanda, NY; also survived by several great-
grandchildren and great-great-
grandchildren. No prior visitation. Funeral services held privately.
