Buffalo Police have arrested an arson suspect in connection with an early-Saturday morning fire in a Bailey Avenue apartment building that forced at least a dozen people out of their homes.
Firefighters were called to the two-story, 10-unit apartment building at 437 Bailey Ave. at 5:10 a.m., fire officials said. The fire was brought under control, but fire fighters remained at the scene for much of the morning. No injuries were reported.
A portion of the building was damaged by the fire, but the building "is not a total loss," fire officials said.
Police issued alerts Saturday evening saying they had arrested a 63-year-old man in connection with the fire and charged him with arson, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief. Buffalo Police lead the investigation with assistance from the Buffalo Fire, State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
