Man shot in leg in Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS -- A 27-year-old man ran to a nearby home for help Saturday morning after being shot while walking in the 2100 block of Ferry Avenue, city police said.

Justin T. Kent of Cleveland Avenue told police he was walking in the area around 11 a.m. when he heard what sounded like three gunshots, then felt a sharp pain in his leg. He turned to see a man clad in black fleeing from the scene. Kent told police he ran to the nearest residence where a resident called police.

Kent was taken to Erie County Medical Center with wounds to his calf and ankle. He told police he could not see his assailant well enough to provide any type of description, and had no idea why anyone would take a shot at him. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known.
