Two vacant houses on James Street sustained $65,000 in damage on Friday evening following a fire, according to the fire department.
Buffalo Fire officials ordered an emergency demolition of a two-story house at 192 James St., where the fire started on the first floor. It then spread to a second house at 194 James St.
The fire caused $60,000 in damage to the first house, according to the fire department.
The house at 194 James was under renovation. That building had $5,000 in damage to one of its outside walls, according to the fire department.
The fire at 192 James was called in at 6:22 p.m. and declared under control at 7 p.m.
No contents were damaged and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
