Man in Tonawanda coffee shop charged with possessing nearly 700 pills

City of Tonawanda police went into the Tim Horton's coffee shop on Niagara Street about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday because of a call that a man was exposing himself in the women's restroom.

They left the coffee shop after arresting an Amherst man they said was in possession of nearly 700 pills.

Officers charged Kevin R. McNinch II, 32, with three counts of a controlled substance after finding 470 methadone tablets, 178 Diazepam tablets, 26 Gabapentin capsules and Suboxone, police said. The pills had been stolen from a family member, according to authorities. McNinch also had a switchblade in his back pocket at the time of his arrest, police said.

Police said McNinch was impaired at the time of his arrest and he was transported to Erie County Medical Center. He's due in Tonawanda City Court on Jan. 31.

McNinch was also charged with petit larceny, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.
