LIEBLER, Helen "Sandy" (Habermehl)

LIEBLER - Helen "Sandy" (nee Habermehl) January 18, 2017; passed away
suddenly on Wednesday, she was 75. Sandy was predeceased by her loving husband Bob in 2012. She was the caring and generous mother of Bob (Jessica) and Tom (Debbie) Liebler and the adoring and proud grandmother of Daniel, Sara, Matthew,
David, Anna, Michael, Samuel, Joseph and Maria. Family will be present on Friday from 4-8 PM at the PERNA, DENGLER, ROBERTS FUNERAL HOME, 1671 Maple Rd. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated from St. Leo the Great Church on Saturday at 9 AM. Sandy graduated from Rosary Hill
College and married Bob in 1963, then began teaching Math. She took a break from teaching to raise her two boys but returned to teach for over 30 years at Sacred Heart Academy, where she helped hundreds of young women master the difficult concepts of Algebra II. She felt very grateful to be part of the SHA Community and cared deeply about it's students and faculty.
Sandy loved to knit, feed her birds, cross country ski and tend her gardens. She enjoyed playing tennis with and hosting social events for the Maplemere Tennis Club. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Leo the Great and could often be found weeding the flower beds, making banners, and attending daily mass. Sandy was kind and compassionate, volunteering every Monday for Meals on Wheels, making dolls for Knitting4Peace, and regularly befriending and caring for the elderly who had no local family. Above all, nothing pleased her more than being surrounded by her grandchildren during holidays and family gatherings. She will be greatly missed. Memorials may be made to St. Leo the Great Church, 885 Sweethome Rd., Amherst, NY 14226. Online condolences may be offered at
