Grand Island man charged after three-vehicle crash that shut down I-190

NIAGARA FALLS - A three-vehicle crash that closed part of the Interstate-190 Wednesday afternoon has led to driving while intoxicated and marijuana possession charges against a Grand Island man.

Justin C. Rebon, 41,  made an unsafe lane change and collided with a tractor-trailer when he was merging from the LaSalle Expressway ramp onto the I-190 at about 12:05 p.m., State Police said. The tractor-trailer driver, trying to avoid a collision, struck a box truck that caused that truck to overturn.

Rebon failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the Niagara barracks where he refused to submit to a breath test, police said. In addition to making an unsafe lane change, he also was charged with DWI and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Troopers issued him tickets to appear in Niagara Falls City Court.
