Letter: Don’t criticize Streep for speaking the truth

Don’t criticize Streep for speaking the truth

Michael Ramirez’s Jan. 13 editorial cartoon gave me a giggle. Apparently he was saying that America should turn off self-important celebrities who think they’re smarter than us. What did Meryl Streep say that was so offensive? That she was surprised that we elected a man for the highest office in the land who was on video mocking a handicapped man? And yes, he was mocking.

But I agree with Ramirez. We should turn off self-important celebrities who haven’t a clue how regular people live and think they’re so much smarter than anyone else. I’m going to turn my computer and TV off on Friday so I don’t have to hear the constant coverage of one.
