Even without scoring leader Anndea Zeigler, the Cardinal O'Hara girls basketball team was too much for Bishop Kearney's collection of Whiz Kids Wednesday night in the Town of Tonawanda.
The scoring of Shilah Parker and Cori Dickson led the Hawks over their Rochester rivals, 68-57. Parker had 21 points in the victory including five three-point shots while Dickson had 12 points. Parker also also collected five rebounds and had two steals. Dickson had five steals against Kearney, which had three eighth-graders in its lineup.
One of the eighth-graders, Saniaa Wilson was high scorer in the game with 23 points. The 6-footer already has an offer from Syracuse University.
O'Hara led 36-26 at the half on the way to its 12th victory in 14 games. The Hawks are ranked third in the latest New York State Class AA poll. Bishop Kearney is ranked 18th in the same poll.
Sara Pfeiffer scores 41 for Olean
Sophomore Sara Pfeiffer, who went into the game averaging 28 points, scored 41 for Olean in a 76-50 romp over visiting Southwestern on Wednesday night in CCAA West 1 play. It was the third time this season that the Huskies star has scored more than 40 points.
Twenty-four of Pfeiffer's points came on eight three-point shots.
Olean (9-2, 5-0 CCAA West 1) led by only 35-28 at halftime against the Trojans after the teams played even at 14-all through the first quarter. A 23-12 advantage in the third quarter blew it open.
The Huskies two losses have come against Hornell of Section V and Franklinville, which has a sophomore scoring star of its own in Danielle Haskell.
