NIAGARA FALLS - A 53-year-old Niagara Falls man died Sunday night in a three-vehicle crash on Niagara Falls Boulevard in front of the Home Depot just west of Interstate-190, according to city police.
The driver who died was traveling east on Niagara Falls Boulevard at about 7 p.m. when he crossed the median into the westbound traffic, striking a car in the left lane, Niagara Falls police said. That vehicle struck a third car that was traveling behind it in the right lane.
The 53-year-old man, who was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Tracker, suffered head and internal injuries. He died at Erie County Medical Center, police said. Authorities withheld his name pending notification of family.
The driver of the first westbound car struck, a 29-year-old Lewiston man, was also taken to ECMC. He suffered a fractured pelvis, leg injuries and possible broken ribs, according to police.
The driver of the other westbound vehicle, a 50-year-old Youngstown man, suffered ankle pain but did not seek immediate treatment, police said.
A section of the road was closed for about four hours. The Niagara Falls Police Department's Crash Management Team is continuing to investigate.
