Ecstasy may have played role in three-vehicle Town of Lewiston crash

TOWN OF LEWISTON – A Town of Niagara teen may have been high on Ecstasy when he was involved in a three-car crash just before 7 p.m. last Sunday town police said.

Officers who discovered three disabled vehicles on the shoulder of Saunders Settlement Road said only one of the vehicles – with heavy front-end damage – was occupied.

Police said Andrew L. Tyler, 19, of Elsa Place, failed field sobriety tests but registered a negative reading on a breath screening. Asked if he had used any drugs, Tyler said he had taken an Ecstasy pill earlier in the day, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired by drugs, failure to keep right and failure to use a designated lane. Further details were unavailable.
