Snowfall creates slick roads for morning commute

Slippery, snow-covered streets were dotted with crashes and vehicles off the road during Thursday morning's commute.

A general snowfall coated Western New York roads, so motorists had to deal with a slower-than-usual ride into work.

Accidents were reported across the area, including on the northbound Interstate-190 near Vulcan Street, the outbound Kensington Expressway near the Scajaquada Expressway, as well as on Porter Road in the Town of Niagara and on Campbell Road in Pendleton.

A lake-effect snow warning for southern Erie, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Wyoming counties goes into effect at 4 p.m. and could bring more than a foot of accumulation, according to the National Weather Service.
