Man arrested while slumped down in pickup on Grider Street

A man with 23 unpaid traffic tickets and no valid driver's license was arrested about 4 a.m. Friday when Northeast District police found him slumped down in a pickup truck in the middle of Grider Street near Scajaquada Street.

Darrin T. Hatcher, 36., of Thatcher Avenue, was charged with driving while intoxicated after a breath test rang up a blood alcohol reading of .18 percent, more than twice the legal threshold for intoxication. An open bottle of cognac and a small bag of alleged cocaine were found in the truck.

Hatcher's license was suspended for failure to respond to the 23 tickets, which were issued on a total of 11 different dates.
