Amherst Alarm Inc. has completed its purchase of a new headquarters and operations building on Wehrle Drive in Amherst, doubling its space from its old base nearby.
The 32-year-old company paid $1.53 million to acquire the 18,500-square-foot building at 2361 Wehrle from Jeff Drilling of ACN Properties LLC, according to Hunt Real Estate Corp., whose brokers Clarke Thrasher and Jane Theriault represented the seller and the buyer, respectively, along with Richard Sterben of New York Corporate Realty.
Amherst Alarm, the region's largest independently owned security and fire alarm company, employs 65 people but has been growing and needed more space. It plans to relocate its Monitoring Response Center from 9,000 square feet at 435 Lawrence Bell Drive to the new building, which also has room to accommodate further growth.
The company was approved to receive just over $200,000 in tax breaks from the Amherst Industrial Development Agency for the project, which will total about $3 million.
Located on 4.92 acres, the facility also has several other tenants who will remain.
