It’s a match made in December heaven: Your new favorite bar, Thin Man Brewery (492 Elmwood Ave.), is hosting a series of films in the "Thin Man Cinema Club."
At 6 p.m. Dec. 21, it's a trio of "Non-Xmas Xmas Films" – "Gremlins,” “Lethal Weapon” and “Die Hard” in the Thin Man projection room. There will be free popcorn and your cocktail treats include the Cranberry Mules.
Next up on Dec. 28 are the three films that make up the gobsmackingly fun “Cornetto Trilogy” – “Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz” and “The World’s End.”
The “Cornetto Trilogy” – so-named for a U.K. ice cream that makes appearances in all three films — is the definition of a modern cult classic. Director Edgar Wright and stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost take on often subvert genre film conventions in “Shaun” (a zombie flick), “Fuzz” (a satire of cop buddy movies) and “World’s End” (an alien invasion comedy).
All three are a blast, and watching them while enjoying beers like the Thin Man Repeater or the Thin Man Bliss — an IPA and a Belgian pale ale, respectively — could not sound more appealing.
