Lockport man pleads guilty in Royalton house burglary

LOCKPORT - Joseph S. Gugliuzza of Lockport is headed to state prison for two to four years after pleading guilty Monday to a house burglary in Royalton.

Gugliuzza, 47, of Washington Street, admitted to third-degree burglary for entering a home on Akron Road on April 15. He also had been charged with another burglary, on April 11 on Lewiston Road in Royalton, which was covered by Monday's plea.

State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. said he intends to impose a sentence of two to four years on Gugliuzza when he returns to court Feb. 14. He's being held without bail in the Niagara County Jail in the meantime.

A co-defendant, Dereck Y. Ford, 39, of Main Street, Newfane, pleaded guilty to the same charge July 13 and was admitted to a court-supervised drug treatment program, which rejected Gugliuzza because of his previous record. Gugliuzza went to state prison for burglaries in Niagara County in 2007 and in Erie County in 2009.
