Driver accused of trying to hit police cars in overnight chase

Buffalo police finally collared a reckless driver who had led them on a chase and attempted to strike patrol cars overnight Sunday near Masten Park on the city's East Side, officials reported.

The incident began shortly after 10:30 p.m. Sunday on East North Street when a Central District Police officer tried to pull over a vehicle with no registration sticker in the window, according to the police report.

After the driver fled from the scene, officers gave chase and managed to box the vehicle in, before he threw a bag of crack out of the passenger window, police said. The driver then hit the gas, attempting to strike the officers, according to the report. The chase then continued toward the driver's Dodge Street home, where he was accused of fighting with officers.

Police charged Kenneth D. Pringle Jr., 23, with aggravated assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and other charges.
