Davonya Person, instructor at Auburn University

Davonya Person died unexpectedly Dec. 14 in Erie County Medical Center. She was 46.

Born in Buffalo, she graduated from West Seneca East High School. Following high school she received a bachelor of science degree from Tuskegee University and her master of science degree from Auburn University in Alabama, where she later was an anatomy and physiology instructor for 14 years.

She was the co-author of "Student Animal & Mammalian Physiology Handbook for the BIOPAC System." She also received "Outstanding Lecturer Award" in 2005, 2007 and 2010, "Daniel F. Breeden Endowment Award" in 2006, 2008 and 2012, both from Auburn University and was acknowledged in several science journals.

She was a devoted daughter and friend. She loved to read, watch football, especially her beloved Auburn University War Eagles, and cook. She also loved her three cats.

She is survived by her parents Joe and Shirley, brother Derrick and numerous other relatives and friends.

A funeral  will be held at noon Dec. 20 in Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 402 Clinton St. Buffalo.
