Amherst man charged with assault after bid to stiff Anchor Bar

It was anything but happy hour Friday afternoon at the Anchor Bar, 1047 Main St., when an Amherst man who could not make payment punched a worker in the face, police said.

Shaun P. Porter, 38, of Berehaven Drive was charged with third-degree assault in the incident that occurred shortly after 4 p.m.

Police said Porter ordered three double shots of Jack Daniels and a bottle of Budweiser, but was unable to pay the $34.50 bill.

When confronted by staff, police said, Porter fled to the parking lot and punched one of the workers in the face.
