BASEBALL: Niagara University will be offering a winter indoor baseball school on five consecutive Sundays beginning on Jan. 15. The camp will take place in the Kiernan Center at Niagara University. The camp is designed to benefit players of all ages to develop skills for coming seasons and to learn from Niagara University baseball coaches and players. The camp will address offense and defense for position players. They will also have a pitching portion for those who desire to take part as a two-way player. FOOTBALL: The Eric Wood Foundation will host its second annual Operation Big Santa outreach program. The event will provide 40 children from Roswell Park Cancer Institute a one-of-a-kind experience including a private dinner followed by a holiday shopping spree hosted by Buffalo Bills center Eric Wood and several Bills teammates. The event will take place on Monday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dinner will be held at Ilio DiPaolo’s with the shopping spree taking place at Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Walden Galleria. HOCKEY: The Canisius men’s hockey program will host its inaugural outdoor open practice Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Buffalo RiverWorks. The team is slated to practice from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on one of the facility’s two outdoor rinks. Members of the Griffs coaching staff and team will take time to interact with the crowd. There will be opportunities to win tickets, merchandise and other prizes. There will be no admission charge. There will be an opportunity for fans to join the Griffs on the ice until 7:30 p.m. for an open skate and autographs. Fans can bring their own skates or can rent a pair from RiverWorks.
