The Erie Canal Gateway Lions Club will bring the SEE Program starting this week to students in the City of Tonawanda School District.
Lions club members are working with the district to provide free eye screenings. Students at Riverview and Mullen elementary schools, which serve pre-K through grade 3, will be the first to be screened.
Lion Michael Lawkowski, of the Lancaster Lions Club, is helping to coordinate the effort.
The Erie Canal Gateway Club also has participated this holiday season in a winter scarf giveaway for students at the elementary school level in both Tonawanda and North Tonawanda. The Lions Club looks to prevent blindness and improve sight for people around the world. For more info, visit lionsclubs.org.
