A woman who died Monday night when she was struck by a CSX freight train in Blasdell committed suicide, Blasdell police said Tuesday.
Police said they are not releasing the name of the woman killed in the incident at about 10:30 p.m. near the crossing at Lake Avenue.
The train included two locomotives and 87 freight cars, 70 of which were loaded with items including flour, corn syrup, telephone poles, propane gas and steel beams, according to a CSX spokesman. Seventeen of the cars were empty.
The train was headed from Willard, Ohio, to Syracuse, the spokesman said. No one in the train's crew was injured.
