Lancaster police warn residents of imposter trying to gain entry into homes

Lancaster police are warning residents to verify the identity of any workers or solicitors who may try to gain entry into their homes after a recent incident on Church Street, where a resident reported a man taking photos of a satellite dish mounted outside his residence.

The suspicious man told the resident he also needed to check the ground wire in the basement and he was allowed entry, police said.

The resident contacted the satellite company and was told no worker had been dispatched to his address, police said.

"If you cannot verify the identity of someone requesting to enter your home, or observe any suspicious activity involving persons going to door-to-door or walking around outside your residence, contact police," said Capt. William Karn.

Karn added the resident waited three days before he called police on Saturday.
