Beer news from Four Mile, Resurgence, 42 North

A new Hungarian beer collaboration

42 North has teamed up with Reketye, a craft brewery from Budapest, Hungary. Assistant brewer Naz Drebot is from Ukraine, and worked with the brewers from Reketye while in Europe this past summer.

This collaboration beer is Hibiscus Kiss, a double-strength Belgian witbier brewed with barley, wheat, oats, German Hallertau Blanc and U.S. Citra hops. The beer is also flavored with coriander, orange peel, lemon peel and hibiscus flowers. The 7.7 percent ABV collaboration is available now at the taproom by the glass and for purchase in 330 mL (11.2 ounce) bottles.

42 North is at 25 Pine St. in East Aurora. Call 805-7500.

New from Four Mile

There's a lot happening at Four Mile Brewing, Olean's only brewery from a new winter menu to reintroducing favorites into its tap room and expansion plans.

The tap-room favorites making a comeback are:
•    Unfurl the Brown and White (4.9 percent ABV), porter made to celebrate St. Bonaventure University basketball team.
•    Four Mile Stout (8 percent ABV), strong, roasty stout with a pronounced bitterness.
•    Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout (8 percent ABV).

A new winter menu features such items such as braised short ribs, crab cakes with dark ale hollandaise and tuna nachos.

Four Mile also is in the midst of expanding its production and taproom. The brewery recently completed renovations to its second floor, creating a space for large groups. This area features a private bar, televisions, plenty of seating, and a projector and screen.

Reservations for the space are being taken. Three new 30 bbl fermentation tanks are being added to increase Four Mile’s production capacity. Two were added earlier this year, and the third is scheduled to arrive in December.

Four Mile Brewing Company is at 202 E Greene St., Olean. Call 373-2337.

Resurgence Holiday Ale now on tap

Resurgence Brewing Company has added yet another beer to its seasonal lineup. Simply named Holiday Ale, it’s brewed with spices but remains fairly sweet and rich despite being a very drinkable 5.5 percent ABV. Look for notes of nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon and French toast.
