Woman charged with DWI, possessing drugs after Buffalo crash

A 21-year-old woman was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of crack cocaine following a one-vehicle accident late Friday in the Black Rock/Riverside neighborhood.

Samantha D. Oriani was driving an unregistered green Chevrolet pickup truck, with no license plates, when it  struck a fire hydrant on Niagara Street between Hertel Avenue and Ontario Street, police said.

Oriani was found sitting in the driver's seat with the engine running, and then failed three field sobriety tests, police said. A subsequent breath test found she had a blood alcohol content of 0.19 percent, police said.

Oriani was taken to City Court for booking, where cellblock attendants reported finding crack cocaine in a bag on her person, police said. She was arrested on charges including driving while intoxicated and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree promoting prison contraband.
