Meeting set on improvements to Route 20 in Hamburg

The New York State Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 to discuss proposed improvements on Route 20, from Amsdell to Lakeview roads in the Town of Hamburg.

The meeting will be held in the auditorium of Frontier Middle School, 2751 Amsdell Road, Hamburg.  The meeting will be conducted in an open forum format, allowing participants to arrive at any time over the course of three hours to discuss the proposed project. State transportation officials will be available to hear comments and answer questions.

The proposed safety improvement project seeks to provide a center two-way left turn lane for safe ingress and egress of left-turning traffic on Route 20 between Amsdell and Lakeview roads. It would require re-striping the existing four-lane section as a single-lane in each direction with a two-way center turn lane.

The project is scheduled to go out to bid in winter 2017.
