Bulletin Board (Dec. 9): Notes and events

The WNY Amateur Football Alliance will hold its 16th annual Scholar-Athlete Recognition Dinner on Jan. 9, at 6 p.m. in Ilio DiPaolo’s Restaurant, 3785 South Park Ave., Blasdell. It honors the top senior football scholar-athletes at Buffalo State, Erie Community College and the University at Buffalo as well as top high school athletes. The Bob Kalsu Memorial Scholarship, presented by the Buffalo Bills Booster Club, and the Tom Day-Tom Sestak Memorial Outstanding Lineman Award, presented to WNY high school football’s top defensive lineman by the Buffalo Bills Alumni Association will be awarded. Tickets are $22 in advance or $25 at the door and can be reserved by calling Milt Dickerson at 833-5241. If purchasing tickets at the door please call for a reservation to allow for proper planning.

BASEBALL: The UB coaching staff will hold four separate camps at the North Amherst Recreation Center, 4415 Millersport Highway, East Amherst. The skills camp, covering the fundamentals of the game, will be Dec. 28-29, 9 a.m. to noon, for ages 6-12. Cost is $80. A hitting clinic on Dec. 30, 9 a.m. to noon, followed by a pitching and catching clinic, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for ages 12-17. Cost is $50 for one or $85 for both. The Christmas Prospect camp will be Dec. 29, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., which will give players a chance to go through a professional style workout. Cost is $80. All In Sports will run an 11-week youth camp, Jan. 7 through March 25, 11 a.m. to noon, for ages 10-12. Instruction will emphasize proper warm up, throwing, catching, hitting, base running and more. BASKETBALL: The Charter School for Applied Technologies is forming a league for girls 12 and under to start the second weekend in January. HOCKEY: The Buffalo Stars Youth Hockey Program will accept résumés for travel and house coaches for the 2017-18 season starting Dec. 15.
