Stop wasting our money on signs promoting state
As my sister and I drove across New York in September, we were amused and also dismayed by the series of useless signs promoting New York State along the roadside. The signs provided no information about places of historical significance or scenic vistas we might want to see. I was shocked to read in The News recently that well over $1 million of taxpayer money was spent on this ill-conceived, wasteful project.
This is especially disturbing since it was done at a time when state funding is being cut to programs that help people who are handicapped and mentally ill. It would be very interesting to see the results of an investigative reporter’s research into any existing connections between the company that produced and erected these signs and our legislators who voted for funding. This project appears to be a useless boondoggle.
