Police arrest suspect in Niagara Falls convenience store robberies

NIAGARA FALLS – A man who police believe robbed four 7-Elevens and tried to rob another was arrested last week in the middle of his latest convenience store robbery.

Chadwick K. Estes, 50, of Division Avenue was arrested last Wednesday night when police saw him wearing a blue mask and about to walk out of the 7-Eleven at Hyde Park Boulevard and Jerauld Avenue, according to a city police report.

Officers – who were checking the store due to recent armed robberies, including one at that same store last Monday night – discovered Estes at the store just before midnight. When he saw police outside, he removed his mask and moved to the back of the store where police ordered him to the ground and arrested him, according to the report.

Niagara Falls Police Superintendent Bryan DalPorto said Estes is suspected of attempting to rob the 7-Eleven at Pine Avenue and 15th Street, as well as robbing that same store, the 7-Eleven at Pine and 29th Street and the Hyde Park Boulevard store twice.

Two of the robberies and the one attempted robbery happened last Monday.

Last Wednesday night, police found a broken knife in Estes' possession, according to the police report. He was wearing a blue mask with eye holes cut out, a red baseball hat, white and black sneakers, jeans and a jacket – a description that was consistent with other recent 7-Eleven robberies, the report said.

Police also recovered Estes' vehicle, which had been parked on Jerauld Avenue, according to the report.
