December Applause!

Fall foliage has withered
now wholly unrecognizable
autumn leaves so slippery
sidewalks non-navigational
Yet December heralds in
a marvelous awakening
preparing myriad winter stews
and heartfelt attentive baking
Slow simmering stock pots
filled with kluski noodles and chicken soup
apple babka, tarts and
shortbreads
delicate puff-pastries du jour
Basted Anjou pears in cream
crisp apple dumplings galore
It’s December! Bring on
beloved winter cuisine once more!
