JAMESTOWN – Three Jamestown men were arrested and over a pound of crystal methamphetamine was recovered in two court-authorized car searches Thursday afternoon, according to the Jamestown Police and the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force.
A car driven by Beau K.C. Jones, 32 , was pulled over by Jamestown Police on Newland Avenue near Sampson Street about 2:15 p.m. Thursday. Police saw a suspicious package in plain view in the vehicle and the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force obtained a search warrant and called for a State Police K-9 Unit.
Jamestown Capt. Robert Samuelson said investigators found 17.9 ounces of crystal methamphetamine in the package. Jones was charged with first and seventh-degree criminal possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A short time later on Newland Avenue, officers stopped a car with Steven D. Crowl, 20, and Matthew Jones, 30, inside. A safe was found in that vehicle and another court search warrant was obtained. Investigators opened the safe and found 2.9 ounces of crystal meth packaged for sale.
Both men were both charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Samuelson said the investigation linked to the two Newland Avenue arrests is continuing.
