The incident began when the vehicle driven by Alexis W. Cruz, 20, was the subject of a cellphone call by another motorist, who reported reckless driving near Keck Road and East High Street in the Town of Lockport. Deputies reported that Cruz started chasing the vehicle driven by the caller.

A patrol car tried to stop Cruz at Lincoln Avenue and Akron Road, but Cruz kept going west on Akron, entering the City of Lockport, where he allegedly ran a red light at Akron and Davison and collided with two other vehicles. Deputies reported minor injuries for for everyone involved in the crash.

The Sheriff's Office identified the occupants of the other two vehicles as: Dominick Farina, 55; Pamela Farina, 54; Joan Aul, 55; and Rae Greco, 89; all of Lockport. A statement didn't say who was in which vehicle.

Cruz was charged on Saturday with driving under the influence of drugs.
