HILL, Jack L.

HILL - Jack L. November 27, 2016, age 87, of Baldwinsville, was a 49 year active member of Liverpool First United Methodist Church. He was the recipient of the Stewardship Award and in 1997 he repainted the entire inside of the church by himself. Those who knew Jack wouldn't be surprised that wouldn't do it for him. Jack went on to paint the outside as well. Jack passed away unexpectedly on Sunday at The Cottages at Garden Grove. He was born and brought up in Dayton, KY, graduated from high school and joined the Marines. After his discharge, Jack moved to Buffalo, found work and married Shirley. He was called back to the Marines afterwards and served two years during Korea. Jack went to work for Coyne Industrial Laundry, moved up into management, and lived for a time in Venezuela with his family with the job of setting up Coyne Industries in that country. Soon thereafter he went to work for J.A. Sexauer, a plumbing and electrical supplier, and after 29 years he retired as their District Manager for Central New York. Jack is predeceased by his son, Daniel Hill in 1999. Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 66 years, Shirley A. (Jolls) Hill of Baldwinsville; daughter, Deborah L. (Joseph) Papp, Jr., of Pawleys Island, SC; two beloved grandsons, Guy Ross (Catherine Suen) of Vancouver, BC and Drew A. Ross of Bridgeport, CT; two nieces; a nephew and a sister-in-law, Carol LaJoie of Clarence Center, NY. A celebration of Jack's life will be held at a future date. The family would like to thank the dedicated health care professionals who cared for Jack over the years. Please consider contributions in Jack's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, National Processing Center, PO Box 758540, Topeka, Kansas, 66675-8540.
