2 arrested in connection with Riverside pot shipment

Two men were arrested Friday for trying to grab a package delivered to a Riverside home that turned out to contain four pounds of marijuana, Northwest District police said.

Charged with fifth-degree marijuana possession and first-degree criminal nuisance were Leonard Shannon, 27, of Newburgh Avenue, and Mark Nash, 28, of Hertel Avenue.

A Lamont Place man said the suspects came to his house several times Friday to demand that he turn over the package, according to police. It was turned over to police, while officers sent to Lamont Place saw a car containing the suspects, which the complainant said had been circling the block, and arrested the two men inside.
