Suspect arrested in September stick-up

Rasheed Jefferson, 17, of Rhode Island Street, was arrested at a West Side store late Tuesday afternoon for his alleged role in a mid-September armed robbery, according to Buffalo Police.

Spotted bicycling east on Rhode Island about 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jefferson was taken into custody by police when he got to a store at the corner of Rhode Island and Normal Avenue moments later.

He is a suspect in an armed robbery at Riverside Park on Sept. 18. Police said he allegedly displayed a pistol and stole a cell phone from a 25-year-old man in the park.

Jefferson was charged with first and second-degree robbery and petit larceny.

Jefferson remained in custody at the Erie County Holding Center Thursday.
