Mayor Byron W. Brown is headed back to Washington for what is likely to be his last visit to the Obama White House.
Brown and his wife, Michelle, were invited to a holiday reception Wednesday evening hosted by President Barack Obama and the First Lady.
Brown has been invited to several White House events during the Obama presidency, including the 2011 Superbowl watching party Brown attended with about 200 other presidential guests.
Most recently, he was among a small group of mayors invited to the White House on Nov. 14, when the group was lauded by First Lady Michelle Obama for their efforts to provide housing for homeless veterans.
The Wednesday evening reception, however, is the first White House holiday season party invitation Brown has received.
And it's also the first White House event he'll be attending with his wife.
"On behalf of the residents of Buffalo, we are honored to have this final opportunity to go to the White House, and express our deep appreciation to President Obama and the First Lady for their services to the country," Brown said.
