Homeroom Announcements: Tuesday's big games & more

Get yourself ready for today's #PrepTalkLive action with everything you need to know about the day ahead in high school sports.

What to watch for Tuesday

1. Boys basketball - Randolph at Ellicottville, 7:30 p.m.

Two quality Southern Tier teams open their seasons in a seven-game Tuesday slate.

Ellicottville's led by junior big-man Elliot Bowen, who averaged 19.3 points and 12.2 rebounds per game last year for an Eagles squad that went 15-8 and lost to eventual state runner-up Panama in the Class D final

The Cardinals return four starters and add freshman Tyler Hind, who had a role on Jamestown last year as an eighth-grader. Randolph ended last season 13-9, which includes a loss to eventual Class C state champ Middle College in the C-2 final.

2. Girls basketball - Orchard Park at Kenmore East, 7:30 p.m.

Among the seven nonleague games Tuesday, Orchard Park vs. Kenmore East offers some intrigue. The Quakers were 16-7 last season and lost in the Class AA final to Williamsville North. The Bulldogs were 15-8 and lost to eventual Class A champion Lake Shore in the Class A-2 final.

Also in girls hoops this evening: the first day of the West Seneca Tip-Off at West Seneca East. The winners from the doubleheader play in the championship game Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

3. Girls hockey - Two WNY Federation league games

Either Amherst/Sweet Home/Clarence or Lancaster/Iroquois/Depew will pick up its first win of the season in a 4 p.m. tilt at Holiday Twin Rinks. Amherst (0-1) lost, 6-3, to Williamsville last Tuesday. It's a quick turnaround for Lancaster (0-2), which lost to Orchard Park/Frontier/Lake Shore yesterday, 5-0.

Same goes for West Seneca/Hamburg/Eden and Kenmore/Grand Island. Both teams sit at 0-1 heading into their 7:40 p.m. matchup at Lincoln Ice Arena. Williamsville topped West Seneca last week, while Orchard Park shut out Kenmore.
