Cheektowaga man accused of felonies after breaking into woman's apartment

A Cheektowaga man was arrested Thursday night on several felony charges after entering an former girlfriend's apartment in the City of Tonawanda, violating an order of protection.

Roy C. Sampman, 30, of Harlem Road in Cheektowaga forced his way into the woman's apartment around 8 p.m., knocking her over and grabbing her cell phone and smashing it, after she attempted to call 911. Three children were in the apartment at the time.

There was a stay away order of protection for Sampman, forbidding him from being in the apartment.

Sampman was looking for a paycheck that he thought was at the apartment, police said.

Sampman fled but was located a few streets and arrested. He was charged with burglary, criminal contempt, aggravated family offenses, criminal mischief, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.
