Albert S. Punturo, World War II veteran, Bell retiree

March 24, 1923 – Nov. 25, 2016

NIAGARA FALLS – Albert S. Punturo of Niagara Falls, a World War II veteran, Bell Aerospace retiree and business owner, died Friday in Schoellkopf Health Care Facility, Niagara Falls,  after a brief illness. He was 93.

A Buffalo native, Mr. Punturo attended schools in Buffalo, and during World War II, served in the Army Air Forces.

He was employed as an assembler at the Bell Aircraft/Bell Aerospace plant in Wheatfield and retired in 1985 after 34 years. During the early 1970s he owned and operated Vezos Importing/Deli on Hertel Avenue in Buffalo.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary J. Dimino.

Survivors include one daughter, Lisa DeMunda; two sisters, Florine Scibetta and Jean Scaglione; and one granddaughter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1413 Pine Ave.
