Most in Elmwood Village oppose five-story buildings

The News missed the mark on what the majority of city residents expressed on Nov. 22 at the final Green Code hearing in City Hall – that they do not want to see massive, five-story buildings tower over Elmwood Avenue near Bidwell Parkway or Forest Avenue.

The News also failed to acknowledge the significant efforts of hundreds of Elmwood Village residents who participated in community meetings and engaged in a letter writing campaign to city officials to urge immediate passage of the draft Green Code and to require the Ciminelli and Chason Affinity projects to adhere to the code standards without variance. It was an impressive grass-roots effort to preserve the villagey feel of one of Buffalo’s most unique neighborhoods.
