Amherst woman charged with aggravated DWI at Cheektowaga checkpoint

An Amherst woman was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated Wednesday night after she was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint in Cheektowaga, police said Friday.

Lisa M. Wood, 36, was stopped at the checkpoint on Harlem Road set up at about 10 p.m. by the State Police and Cheektowaga police.

Wood registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.18 percent. She was released with appearance tickets for Cheektowaga Town Court on Dec. 7, according to the State Police.

Five total arrests were made, including two people ticketed for a violation for marijuana possession, while another was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession. A Cheektowaga man was charged with DWI after registering a BAC of 0.08 percent, police said.
