Uniland acquires airport-area properties

Uniland Development Co. has acquired a pair of properties near the Buffalo Niagara International Airport in Cheektowaga, giving it two more acres of land on which to build and expand its 61-acre Airborne Business Park across the street.

The developer paid $450,000 to buy the two contiguous parcels at 4747 and 4757 Genesee St. from Miller Properties LLC. The added land creates more options for development and amenities for the fast-growing office park, and could be used for either retail or medical office space, the company said in a release.

Currently, about 30 acres of "shovel-ready" land remain available for "build-to-suit" redevelopment in the park. Options include additional possible office space, as well as a hotel, restaurant and a day-care facility.

Uniland's construction division is now completing work on a three-story, 109,000-square-foot office building at 400 Airborne Parkway for Sodexo Inc.'s regional service center. It's slated to open April 1.

Officials said that, once completed, the full park would include about 1 million square feet of commercial space.

“Many employers already recognize the value of Airborne Business Park’s location being so accessible to their workforce and customers," said Carl Montante Jr., Uniland's vice president of marketing and strategic initiatives. "With this acquisition, Uniland is looking to enhance the visual appeal of what has become a vibrant commercial area surrounding the airport.”
