The Buffalo area stands in for picturesque small town Vermont in “A Christmas in Vermont,” premiering at 9 p.m. Nov. 27 on ION Television.
The new holiday movie was filmed in Buffalo, East Aurora and Ellicottville earlier this year by director Fred Olen Ray who previously made two other films in the area: “A Prince for Christmas” and the thriller “A Mother’s Revenge.”
“A Christmas in Vermont” is about an executive sent to close down a factory right before the holidays. But will she have a change of heart when she learns the importance of the factory to the town? The film stars Abigail Hawk, David O’Donnell, Zack Ward (“A Christmas Story”) and Chevy Chase (who did not film in Buffalo). Look for local actors, too, including Mary Kate O’Connell, Guy Tomassi, Bob Rusch and Bill Brown.
Among the recognizable locations in East Aurora are the Roycroft, Aurora Theatre and the Main Street shopping area.
“A Christmas in Vermont” will have additional showings at 11 p.m. Dec. 3 and 7 p.m. Dec. 24 on ION TV. If you want to see it on the big screen, the Aurora Theatre hosts a free screening at 11 a.m. Dec. 31.
